Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I was driving a new car we were thinking of buying and we had not switched over the insurance yet when I spun out and hit one of those red light cameras and knocked it over due to ice and snow on the road. My insurance has denied the claim and now the camera people have sent me a personal bill. It is a private company who makes and puts these cameras up what exactly can they do to me if i cant pay. Can i go to jail or what im freaking out as i dont have 11,000 dollar to pay them.

I've never heard of anyone who switches over insurance on a car they haven't bought. So, if you bought it and had no insurance on it yet, you are out of luck. If you were test driving it and it wasn't yours yet, the dealership might have coverage.

Good news is that you cannot be put in jail in Texas for nonpayment of a debt. You can be sued and have a judgment taken against you, ruin your credit etc. Although you mentioned 'snow' so perhaps this was not Texas. In that case, you should ask an attorney since laws will vary from state to state.
