Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

My husband and I live in Texas. My husband was involved in an auto accident (his fault) about six months ago. My dad suggested a place to us, and so my husband took it there and signed a work order with the company. Initially, they said it would be two to three weeks before the car would be repaired. Six months have gone by now and my husband has called twice a week since the very beginning of all this, with no success of getting his truck fixed and given back to him. The auto repair shop has received a total of $5000 to fix the damege to his vehicle from my husband's insurance company so far (a busted radiator, a crushed hood, and other minor repairs) and it is still not done. About a month ago we were needing to move into a new apartment, so the repair shop gave us a truck to rent for free, but that was not signed in writing. We took it from them in good faith. My husband went today to speak to the owner of the repair shop in person again, and he would not let him see his work file and the repairs that have been done to the truck. My question is, what can we do to get the truck back now? Also, can they just decide to charge us for the rental truck they loaned us a month back? They claim they have already fixed a few things, and that they were waiting for parts here and there, but six months seems ridiculously long for repairs to a vehicle. Please help!
