Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Riding club waiver

Is is required for a motorcycle riding club who meets to ride locally every Sunday to offer a waiver of libility since we do not have anyone to sign up, nor do we charge, all we do is ask people if they want to ride every Sunday as a group? Not for sure if I selected the right area of law to submit this too.

Re: Riding club waiver

"Liability Waivers" in Texas are worthless. You cannot waive your right to be free from negligence. In other words, if a member of your group negligently injures someone else, it would not matter whether that person had signed a "waiver" or not; the injured party could still sue. Whether the injured victim could sue the group as well as the individual is too complex to be discussed here. Just remember: if you hurt someone through your negligence, you are vulnerable--whether they signed a waiver or not.
