Old builder putting mechanic lien against property for an un built house

I recently inquired about having a home built with a local company in september of 2002, and in doing so I signed a contract for them to build the home, now it has been over 8 months and still they have not broke ground or anything at all, they said that their surveyor couldn,t find a copy of an old survey in the area, mean while , the company have had me going door to door asking to see the neighbors surveys, I have gotten tired of waiting so I went to another conpany to see if they would have the same problem but they diidn,t ,so the first company is putting a mechanic lein on my land for the price of an un built home to keep me from getting it built with another company.

You need to schedule an appointment with a lawyer, bring in all your paperwork and a chronological list of what actions were taken or were not taken and when. Be sure to bring any promotional literature from the builder.
