Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

My mother is buying a car from a friend at work for $1000. She has already given her the money for the vehicle now the woman will not produce the car. Can charges be filed with the police or is this a civil matter.

It's fraud, which is a crime, but you might not have much luck getting the police involved.

Go talk to the police and tell them what happened. Don't expect much.

Your mother will probably end up having to file a lawsuit.
