Tax Sale

IF purchasing property at a tax sale, where there is a mortgage on the property, and I have purchased the property is the mortgage then exstinguished when I purchase the property or deed or does the mortgage and other leins, covenants or encumbrances stay attached to the property?

In Texas, one would hope that the taxing authority served process on all lien holders and that the lien holders served would have their liens extinguished. Not all sheriff's sales are tax sales, however. This involves a great deal of information and you might wish to visit your local law library for further reading.
