Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Trimming neighbors' trees

Neighbors on 3 sides of our home have large pecan trees extending 20 feet or more into our back yard. We plan to install a pool and want to minimize the mess these trees create. May we cut trees back to our property line without permission? We would notify neighbors as a courtesy.

Re: Trimming neighbors' trees

a party can generally trim limbs to the property line, but if it kills the tree, there could be some problems. It is best to obtain permission. Generally, trimming is best done in winter and you would want to ask a gardner whether you need to seal the limb.
