Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Texas

Why are my rights being ignored and I am the one who was asulted?

I work in a male dominated occupation. About two months ago I was confronted by a fellow employee and he kissed me and I told him to stop! I feared retaliation and feared losing my job, this is a man who has been on the job for 10 years and I only have 10 months behind me. He is also relatives with other employees. I told several of the outsid esalespersons and an iffce manager of the occurance. The incident happened again within 3 weeks. This time is forcefully kissed me 2x. Another employee went to our manager and told him. My manager asked why I did not tell him, I told him I feared losing my job. He did nothing. But reprmended me by telling me to never wear sleevless shirts again, etc. It has happened to another woman plus he has made verbal comments again. This time I requested upper managment be involved. They still did not do anything. I went back to work for three hours and had an anxiety attack on the job in front of customers and left. Now they fire him. But I am scared to go back to work in fear of severe retaliation. What do I do? Do I have a case?

What you describe sounds like a hostile work environment against women. If your employer has 15 or more employees, you have a good case under Title VII for sex discrimination. The fact that the employer became aware of the discrimination and did nothing about it exposes them to liability for emotional distress. File a charge of discrimination with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission @ 1919 Smith Street, 7th Floor, Houston, TX 77002 (Phone: 713-209-3320).
