do executures of a will have to show prove of all the money they spent out of the estate?

If independent letters were issued, then the executor only has to file an inventory of what was collected. If dependent letters were issued, then the executor has to get court permission before all disbursements. If you have reason to believe there has been a malfeasance, you can demand an accounting.
