Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

''Trying to find quality legal answer''

I am inquiring about a power of attorney situation. If you have 10 living children, can one child just appoint themself power of attorney over the living mother's estate, without consulting the other 9 children of this decision. All of the other 9 children are capable of handling their own affaris as well as their mothers. But I was wanting to know could this be done without the consultation of the other children and could this power of attorney stand, if the other children had no knowledge of it?

No. Given the facts you mentioned, the parent has to create the power of attorney naming the child.

Mother can choose whomever she wants to have her power of attorney without caucusing with her kids. But one kid can't just decide to become her attorney in fact unless he or she moves the court for a guardianship of mother's estate.
