Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

Safety Deposit Box

My father recently died and had a safety deposit box. Inside we believe there is a will, land titles, and other document beneficial to our family.

We do not have access (that we know of) to the box and I was wondering if there was any law in Texas regarding family members opening those boxes once the owner is deceased. Or maybe to have someone check for a will or something similar.

My family doesn't possess the financial capabilities to really do much through the courts, ie hiring a lawyer and going to a probate judge. I'm trying to find out what other options we have before I have to stop going to college to help support my mother, move back to my home town, and lose my scholarships and internship.
