Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

No will, minor children, property sold, without court permission

My father-in-law died suddenly in 1966. He left no will. He left a wife, 5 children and one on the way. My mother-in-law sold the property 3 months later. Now the property is being resold and my husband and his siblings have been asked to sign away their rights to the property. Do they have any rights?

The children inherited a half interest in the real property. If there were 6 children, then each owns an undivided 1/12 interest that their mother couldn't sell. All she could sell was her undivided 1/2.

I expect that the buyer, who is trying to sell now, is not happy.
