if somone buys a present for you and then takes it away from you is that classified as your property?
if so is this a type of robbery?

Some gifts are deemed to be in the emotional realm (eg. an engagement ring), and thus different from the normal rules on property.
Proving ownership is difficult if you can not prove obtaining it.
