Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Utah

Haven't received money for services provided

A friend of mine has a stable where he boards horses. He has 2 horses that he has been feeding for months and the owners have not paid him. They owe him about $1100. The owner of the stable wants to sell these two horses and get as much of the money he has lost back. The owner of the horses has not contacted him and they can't reach him either. What can we do concerning this situation?
