Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Utah

attorney obligations?

my daughter got into some trouble and was appointed a public defender before she was even half way through the process she was diagnosed with leukemia was hospitalized on and off for months racking up a list of failure to appears etc..she is young and scared and plead guilty to things she shouldn't have to get out of jail the time for withdrawl of plea has lapsed but is there anything that can be done ? can i access any of the paperwork the judge has seen from her attorney i have talked to him and don't feel he gave my daughter options or anything but shuffled her through the system she had already been sentenced and was supposed to turn herself in after hospital release but didn't she has 2 small children and was having a hard enough time with their care while she battled cancer so when the time came to turn herself in she didn't she went through long chemo and critically ill months and i have a hard time with her defender expecting her to keep on top of dates etc. isnt that his job and now she gets punished putting something like that on hold while holding onto life

You need to consult with another attorney who can review all of the facts. Sometimes a judgment can be set aside, an attorney can review your case and give you the options.
