Legal Question in Personal Injury in Utah

Basketball Game Fight

My husband was playing basketball when he was assaulted by a player on the other team. My husband punched back and they were pulled apart. The game was called off, both players were kicked off the teams for the season so I took my husband and we left. In the parking lot the player who had assaulted him blocked my husbands car so he couldn't leave. The guy then got out of his car and punched my husband twice more through my husbands vehicles window. I approached the car and then the assaulant also threatened me verbally. This has caused my husband to have to recieve medical attention (stitches, tetnis shots, and antibiotics). What can we do legally to insure that this doesn't happen again and to insure that the other guy doesn't retaliate further? The cops told us that if we pressed charges my huband could get charged as well because he fought back. What legal actions should be taken?

Re: Basketball Game Fight

If he approaches you again file charges and could get a restraining order against him.

You can sue him now for assault, but unless your husband has significant injuries it will be an exercise in futility.
