Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

lease agreement

I signed a lease a week ago for a townhome. pending their acceptance and the deposit it wasn't complete. They changed there mind on the deposit amount from 500- 1199. I met with my financial counselor and they recommended I move into a place that is around 850. with a 300 deposit. I called the lady of the property I decided not to move into and informed her that I wouldn't be able to come up with the down and was honest about the whole ordeal now she wants me to move in for a month and then move bac out once the property is rented. But I can't afford it. she said she will take me to court if I don't. But the move in date is over two weeks away. what can I do? I haven't even given her a deposit or anything. I'm also filing a chapter 13 right now.

Re: lease agreement

The most immediate thing is to talk this over with your bankruptcy attorney. The bankruptcy may solve this problem entirely.

Was the original deposit amount included in the lease that you signed? And then changed? Going to court may be just a threat that won't actually happen.

Good luck.
