Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Utah

Nieghbor intentionaly blairs music directly at us

Our nighbor of 7 years has decided that he no longer likes kids. So whenever our kids are in the backyard playing, making noise as kids do, he will turn on his radio and turn it towards our backyard and place it at our joining property line. It is so loud and he refuses to stop this new behavior. We have call the police and they have warned him several times. It is very annoying and he wont even discuss it with us except to say our kids (6,3) noise bothers him. He will even do this when he is not in his backyard. What should we do.

I assume you have done all of the neighborly things, attempting to talk to him, negotiate hours when the children can be outside, etc.

1. Apply for a restraining order against him playing loud music.

2. Talk to the police about a nuisance/disturbing the peace charge against him.

3. If you know his family, see if they can talk to him.

Good luck. He may have mental problems, and if so, these situations are very frustrating, because there is little that can be done.
