Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Virginia

passport

the dept. of state is holding my passport for some debt 30 ago that man to whom i thought i was marry to and find out in entering to country was already married. He borrow money for airfare from the embassy for us to travel to US and put my name as his wife. But was never contracted regarding the bill untill now. Should i be responsibly for 50% of that money eventhough I wasn't marry to him legally according them?

Interesting issue, but chances are, if you BOTH borrowed this money (you HAD to consent at some level), the embassy can get it all from either of you.

It's not their job to manage people's relationships, they just want their money.

If you received the benefit of the airfare, you could be responsible for at least part of what the Department of State loaned the two of you to travel to the United States. More information, however, would be needed in order to make a more definitive determination.
