Legal Question in Construction Law in Virginia

building contractor did terrible work

a building contractor gave us a bid on building a new garage..siding our house and other improvements...the contractor was at the job very little...the people he subcontracted to put the siding on made terrible mistakes..stuffing hotwires from old light fixtures back into the walls...while still hot...running siding and J channel around batter boards where a new slab was pored for a porch..we turned on the stove fan vent and it blew it off the house...doors are hung uneven and dont close proper...window leaked and left water in the dining room floor...which we had to call another siding guy to fix...ruined the new interior wall that we had just had painted...gutters are all wrong ..missing peices..and not cut properly...calk is yellow..siding and trim is white..just a terrible job...put up block for the new garage without rebar...wrong morter...failed inspection 2x...joints are big and ugly..finaly fixed but looks terrible...i fired him after that..because we found out he had lied..he really didnt have a class A contractors lic..he doesnt have any..only a county business lic...and stared on feb 10 said the job would be done in 30 days..and its still not done...still hasnt fixed what was wrong...
