Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

A long time ago I purchased furniture with my Grandmother. Long story short we were unable to pay and both received judgments. Since then i've grown and am working on my credit and fixing it. I was under the assumption that it had been taken care of since i had several garnishments back then and from what I was told by a car dealership was that I had ghost credit. However the other day I applied as a cosigner for my mother through the same company but a different name and now i'm not so sure. My question is can I go to jail for the unpaid judgement? Should I contact them to find out if it was completely paid?

No, you cannot go to jail for an unpaid judgment, but you could

check with the clerk's office of the court which entered this judgment against you to determine whether it's been satisfied (paid off) by now.
