Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Personal loan

I received a letter from an attorney stating that I owed his client money. The letter did not state how much money and only said that the loan happen on or about July 2005. I never received any money from this client that now lives in CA. She did live in VA (as I still do) in July 2005. Should I contact the attorney and ask for a copy of the any loan agreement or contract that he has? I know there isnt any since I never received any money. Or should I just do nothing and wait for them to file in court?

Thanks

Re: Personal loan

If there was no debt ever owed by you you will not be liable. However, it is always preferable to keep things out of court--where possible--and you should request copies of the loan so that you may review/dispute the existence of any debt. If you are unable to do so, or you do not understand any documentation that is sent you should consult an attorney to do the same.
