Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

My son is in bankruptcy and had two vehicles he left on my property. My property was on the market for sale and the two vehicles were a nuisance and utter distraction. I contacted the lien holders of both vehicles and asked them to come and get them or could I have them towed to them. They both refused stating payments were not "that far behind". I continued asking them to come and get them for months and months. Finally I submitted for abandoned vehicle status on both. The required 15 day period came and went with still no response from the lien holders. Then I filed the next step which is the 21 days period. This will be up on Thursday April, 29th. One lien holders called today, April 24th! They demand their property immediately. They stated that they did get the certified letters from myself and the DMV about the Abandoned Vehicle process but felt that they could get them when it suited them and that I had no recourse. Do I? The DMV stated that come Thursday they will give me title to both vehicles so that I may dispose of them.
