Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

I am trying to catch up payments on a vehicle. I just received a vm msg from and "investigator" saying "a warrant may be issued for you tonight in reference to your vehicle". Can a warrant be issued and what would it be for? I live in Virginia.

No, I can assure you that no "warrant (would) be issued for you tonight in

reference to your vehicle". This supposed "investigator" is full of BALONEY.

This is a common scam. You might consider consulting an attorney. You may have any number of claims. Good luck.

A lawsuit filed in General District Court for less than $15,000 is usually filled out on a form called a "Warrant in Debt." This is simply a civil lawsuit

It may be considered abusive conduct by a debt collector -- thus illegal under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act -- to lead you to believe that a criminal action may be taken for not paying a debt.

Unless there is something going on here that is not revealed by the facts that you have stated, you CANNOT be charged criminally for not paying a debt.
