Arrested for Picking child up late from school

My son's school said they tried to call me on 1/3/05 to tell me he could not ride the school bus home and they could not reach me. The school did not leave a message at my work or cell but at my home. The school lets out at 3:40pm. Asst Principal got in touch with my mother at 4pm said she would bring my son home from school that day only. 5pm my mother got another call saying asst principal was told by school super intendant she couldn't do it. I called school super intendants office and was told he was in meeting and did not speak to anyone. Was told to fax school letter giving permission for Asst Principal to take child home. I faxed letter and left work. On way home got call from police on cell phone saying son was still at school and I would be charged with VA Code 18.2-371 Contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. 5 minutes later my mother was at the school and 5 minutes after that social services called my cell phone. Once I got to the school the Asst Principal said I purposely avoided their phone calls and left my son at school. What can I do to resolve this?

Re: Arrested for Picking child up late from school

If you were actually arrested or given a summons to appear for allegedly Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, you should either retain counsel or request that the court appoint such to represent you in this matter. If all the facts are as you've outlined here in your question, your attorney should have no difficulty in getting this criminal tempest created out of a bureaucratic teapot, so to speak, dismissed.
