Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

My daughter moved out at 18 to live with her boyfriend. She is now 19 and now states that the college said that her parents are responsible to pay for college. I paid for the first semester and she failed and missed most of the classes. I live in virginia

How so? Your daughter is now an adult and unless there's a divorce decree which incorporates an agreement that specifies that one or both of her parents are to defray the costs of her college education, neither has any obligation under Virginia law to do so.
