Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

Ease of paternity suit?

13 years ago, an older woman whom I dated 3 times became pregnant. We retained attorneys and signed an agreement that includes 1. Neither party shall contact the other. 2. No paternity request will be made. 3. She will retain sole custody of the child. 4. Either party will be subject to legal fees if the agt. is broken and a case ensues.

This woman has now contacted me by letter and would like me to be involved in the childs life. I am going to do this, however what should I be concerned about legally if she decides to make my life difficult? Should I be concerned about the child suing me for support? Can I still be forced to have a genetic test? thx you

Re: Ease of paternity suit?

You will know(or should be able to figure out) what those legal concerns may turn out to be once she starts making life difficult for you, which could include both of the items which you've mentioned, i.e., a suit for child support as well as a paternity test.
