Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

I filed a petition for custody for a child i have been raising along with his father for the past 3 years. This is my 2 youngest children's older brother. Their father and I currently live together and have a on again off again relationship. We (myself, father and father's sister- who intially shared joint custody) intially went to court March 1st where he told the jduge he had to go to jail for 30days. the judge awarded myself and father joint physical and legal custody and the three of us shared legal custody. we went back for the next trial date(after father's jail sentence- and the judge awarded just father physical custody) and the three of us share legal. how and what do i need to do to ensure of the final hearing date in july that i am added back to the physical custody part?
