name changes

i have been married for 5 years. i was married in MD and live in VA. i want to change my maiden name to my husbands but dont know what to do or which state to do it in.

also i want to change my sons name to my husbands but dont know how to go about it. his bio father has given consent and will sign any forms. also how long do these take and cost?

any help would be great.

The name changes must be done in the circuit court in the city or county of Virginia where you currently reside.

If you log onto the website of this circuit court, you may find instructions and forms as to how to do the name changes for your minor child as well as for yourself (pro se) without engaging the services of an attorney.
