Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Virginia

Money Owed

I have a case against a client who owes money for contract work done on his garage. He claims he already paid me. Can I add consumer fraud to my suit so that I may be compensated for the aggravation of having to go to court to get my money? If so, how?

Re: Money Owed

Sure, you could add an alleged consumer fraud count to your list of civil actions against this client, but unless you have credible proof as to the accuracy and validity of this new charge, I would doubt that you would be likely to recover anything from it by adding it to your list of civil wrongs allegedly committed by this particular client of yours.
