Legal Question in Personal Injury in Virginia

while on the job in va., and after a few reps from contractors asking the general contracter, to remove ice from the open floors so we could proceed with work to keep in schedule, the GC did not want to hurt the finish of the concrete, did nothing and several employees were hurt. Broken arm, back and neck and knee injuries. although the sub-contractor has w/c for the employees, can the GC be sued for personal injury from same injury?
