Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

Deed of Gift

My mother in law owns 17.775 acres and would like to give my husband and I 2 acres of this property to place a mobile home on. We at that time would use the property as help in purchasing this home. What kind of deed should we have done for this purpose?

Re: Deed of Gift

Your mother in law may use a deed of gift to grant this land to you and your husband. You would be wise to have the title examined to ensure you are not taking on any lien or to confirm no easement (such as a power line) does not affect the 12 acres she intends to grant to you.
