Quitclaim Deed

If I quitclaim deed my property to my parents, can anybody put a lien on my property and come after me for the debt?

Re: Quitclaim Deed

If they "put a lien on my property" it is generally done after suing you and getting a final judgment of the court. You get served with the suit at the outset, so you know the suit has commenced.

I suggest you consult with legal counsel who handle consumer debt cases, perhaps to work out a settlement, called a "work-out," or if that drastic, a bankruptcy.

Good luck,

Re: Quitclaim Deed

Depends upon when you do it. If it's clear that the quitclaim is done in contemplation of avoidance of creditor actions against you such as the enforcement of a judgment, then the transfer could be set aside as fraudulent by a court at the request of the creditor.
