Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

A ratified contract issue

We have a ratified contract to purchase a propery and the closing was to be yesterday. The seller has left the country with our signing a power of attorney prior to leaving. He has been aware of the closing date for 2 months. We now have to wait another 20 days until he returns. What are our rights? We do not want to give up the property, but we are losing money each day since not being able to renovate and rent the property.

Re: A ratified contract issue

Well, if the seller is in breach of this "ratified contract", you could sue him, but it probably would not be a good idea at this stage in matters if you really want to purchase this property.
