Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

real estate closing question

I am the seller of a home. During

the closing my neighbor informed my

real estate agent that there was a

water connection problem to one of

the houses on our shared driveway.

At that point noone knew whose

house was involved. The buyers

were notified of this. After the

closing finished it was brought to our

attention that the problem involved

the house being sold. Who is

responsible for the repairs?

Re: real estate closing question

Hard to say, merely on these facts, but if the buyers were notified and objected and made clear that you (the seller) would be responsible in the

event it turned out to involve "the house being sold", then you're likely the one legally responsible for the repairs.
