Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Speeding ticket

My wife stated NO CONTEST to the charge of Speeding 67/45 even though she knew she was not speeding at all. If anything she may have gone 50 in a 45. The Judge gave her ''Failure to obey a traffic sign.'' Would it had been better to have stated ''Not Guilty'' even though the Officer was not in the courtroom and what would have happened? Would she had had the chance to say something in her defense on the spot?

Re: Speeding ticket

Yes, a plea of not guilty with the officer not being there would probably have resulted in the court dismissing the matter.
