Legal Question in Technology Law in Washington

I had my laptop repairred at a Computer Repair Store. A month in a half later, I received a call from someone saying he had his laptop repairred at the same store and he had all my personal information/documents installed on his computer. What are my options and steps to take from here? I told the person who has all my information to keep it, until we meet.

It sounds like a mistake. The computer repair place installed your hard drive onto this other guy's computer. Is that accurate? If so, you should definitely get your money back. You should allert the company 1. start with customer service; 2. move your way up the chain and talk to the CEO if you have to.

If this other guy contacted you, telling you he has your info, and didn't threaten you or attempt to extort you, he's probably an innocent bystander in the matter. "Oops, I found your wallet" type of thing. Just ask him to delete you info, if possible.
