Legal Question in Criminal Law in Washington

I looked into taking an on-line payday loan from an online company. They sent me an offer but when I read their contract, I sent it back, unsigned with a message that says "Please Cancel". No funds were ever deposited to my account. I am now getting threatening, harassing phone calls from some organization saying they are going to have an arrest warrant issued for me, I will go to jail for 6 months for violation of federal bank laws, check fraud, theft by deception. When trying to ascertain when this loan was taken out, they will not tell me. Only that it was for $300 and that the company they represent, "EasyPayday Loans" (They apparently have many affiliate companies) has tried to take money from my checking account to pay for this and there is never any funds in my account. There has never been an attempt to take money from my account. My account shows what is returned and what has been paid. They are threatening my job (they have already called them to find me (I am not hiding) as well as my sister, who was listed as a reference.) They have said they will blacklist mysocial security number. What do I do? They say they are based in California and all I have ever spoken to is men with severe foreign accents. Oh, yes. They also told me the company wrote the loan off (of which there was no loan) but are pursuing legal action against me for the above noted offenses. Your advise is appreciated.

In Washinton State http://www.atg.wa.gov/fileacomplaint.aspx is the link needed to file a consumer complaint. See what information you can receive from this process.

Although WA State Attorney General's office cannot represent you should there be no resolution, you will at least have some information to go from and hire an attorney. That may sound overwhelming to call attorneys, and you have to protect yourself.

You can go to the Washington State Bar Association http://www.wsba.org for more information in navigating through seeking an attorney. Another resource is AVVO http://www.avvo.com for information. My best to you.
