Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

restraining order

how does the original petitioner of a restraining order go about terminating or modifying an order of protection once it is granted? Do both parties have to go back to court or can the original petitioner fill out paperwork and submit it to the judge herself? How long would the process take?

Re: restraining order

The petitioning party may do it alone, unless the other party has had some relief granted also (e.g. the other party requested to have the order be mutual and the court granted that relief) and unless there is a local rule to the contrary you should just be able to show up at ex parte and present it. (You should then assure that the other party gets a copy).
