Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Washington

Is it common to be contacted by a credit collection company, if I have not tried to collect on a judgement? I did not intiate this contact. Is this a legitimate practice?

Probably not. If they call again, get their contact information, including the name of the person you are speaking with. Play nice to get this information. Then when you have it, tell them that you are now requesting that they formally remove you from their database, that you have not initiated any collection action that you want them to pursue, and if they don't comply, you will report them to the Federal Trade Commission. Note, there is an FTC website where you can fill in the particulars of the company, and as I understand it, once they have enough complaints, they will pursue it. That can lead to hefty fines against them for this type of predatory behavior.
