Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Washington

Parental termination hearing

My husband received a summons to appear, along with the mother of the child, in court for a Parental Termination hearing. The child has been removed from his mother's home for 14 months and is not to be returned. My husband has opted to voluntarily terminate his rights. Does he have to go to court? If he does not, will he have a bench warrant issued?

Re: Parental termination hearing

I don't understand why a parent would just roll over for something like this unless he had done something pretty bad.

But, in answer to your question, no he won't be arrested. And he doesn't need to go to court. What he should do is call the caseworker and tell them he doesn't plan to contest or show up to court.
