Legal Question in Employment Law in Washington

confidentiality

i was accused of an action in which a disciplinary hearing was held and all parties were bound by a confidentiality clause. later, without in any way disclosing anything about the meeting or that it had ever even occured, i told a friend in these exact words ''some bad stuff had gone down at work and i had to take some time off and i was scared i may lose my job. it made me really sad.'' somehow this got back to my boss' and now they question if this was a breech of the clause. my question is the same. and also, how can discussing ones personal feelings be breeching said clause?
