Legal Question in Traffic Law in Washington

Wrong information on ticket

The office wrote 2 of the letters in my drivers licence wrong on the speeding ticket? Can I get out of the ticket because of this?

Re: Wrong information on ticket

No, this would not provide a defense in a traffic citation case. It is a minor error that has not prejudiced you in any way, so the judge is likely to overlook the officers mistake. But there are many ways in which to prevail in a traffic citation case. If the ticket is not filed within 72 hours, if the officers affidavit is not signed at all or perhaps not signed properly, or if the ticket cites the wrong section of the law. If its a speeding ticket, you could maybe subpoena the expert and win if he or she fails to come to court. You may want to have an experienced lawyer look at your ticket. Legal fees on a thing like this are more affordable then you may think.
