Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

I have been informed that my father recently passed away. He resided in Washingont and moved to Oregon before dying.

He had little to no contact with my sister and me since we were very young.

We have 3 questions: #1. We want to know if we should request a copy of his will, if he even has one. #2. We also want to know where to get a copy of the will. #3- Would it be worth our time to contest the will, especially if he didn't specifically exclude our names from inheriting anything? Or woul the judge most likely not award us anything since he chose to abandon us at a young age?

If anyone is intersted in finding a copy of his will for us pro-bono, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Melissa

When you say your father "moved to Oregon," was he a resident of OR at the time of his death, or a resident of WA. If he was an OR resident, you should put this question to an OR atty. If he was a WA resident, then you I can answer your questions: 1. Yes. 2. I don't know, but counties do maintain will registries, but not all wills are filed, check with other relatives. 3. Depends on what there is to distribute and how the will is written.
