Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Probate, will Rep not filed

I live in CO and have been named in my Grandmother's will to receive an antique buffet to me and 50% of what is in a storage unit to me and 50% to my sister. I am willing to pay the monthly unit fee until I get to Spokane to see for myself what is in it. The Power of Attorney says she is only going to pay for it until the end of July 2009. She also has my 3 antique gold watches in her possesion-not in the storage unit. The Rep wants the watches to have and to see if they really belong to her side of the family. It has been 30 days since my Grandmother's passing and nothing has been done. If my sister agrees, can I have everything and when should I start paying for the storage unit? I will split things up with her when I can get to Spokane. I don't have a copy of the will and don't believe anyone has filed anything.

Re: Probate, will Rep not filed

Power of Attorney ends with the death of the principal. You refer to a "Rep," who or what is the "Rep?"

Your question is: "If my sister agrees, can I have everything and when should I start paying for the storage unit?" The answer is, it depends on what the will says, and whether you should pay for the storage unit depends on whether you want to protect the contents of the unit. If your grandmother died 30 days ago the probate of the estate should have been filed (if necessary or appropriate).
