Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Being denied due inheritance.

I am the stepfather to three sons, one of whom is living with us and is a minor. Their father passed a way a year ago and the sons received nothing. Their father's brothers and sisters recently sold property that I believe the sons should have had a part of. How can we find out what happened to their father's share of the original inheritance left by my son's grandparents?

The aunts and uncles are being stubborn and refuse to answer any queries, which makes us suspicious.

Re: Being denied due inheritance.

Was a probate action opened on the father's estate? If it was there are specific procedures that need to be followed by the executor-personal representative or administrator. In intestate probate (no will), the general order of descent and distribution is first to spouse, next to children, next to parents, next to siblings, etc. What you should do depends on the complete and specific facts of the situation and I know there are many relevant facts not available in this question.
