Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

Inheritance from my mother and I'm on SSI

My mother passed away last week. My sister said that my mom left a retirement acct. in my sister and in my name (or that lists us as her beneficiaries). I think may be an IRA (still getting more infor.) I'm 54 years old. I'm disabled and on SSI. I can not have assest over 2,000 and the acct. is worth that (my portion) if taken out now - if we wait till matures - could be worth 11,000 split with my sister. Is this something I could receive like in 10 years and not affect my SSI - when I would get SS benefits based on my (ex - but we were married over 10 years) soc. security monthly amt. I'm eligible at age 66 unless he passed away sooner. I'm 54 now.

It would depend on the nature of the asset. I'd need more information. Social Security is getting tougher about trust assets, than they were even a few years ago.
