Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Washington

I have a power of attorney from a friend who is now deceased. My problem is that the pawn shop that has some of her mother's rings will not honor it since she is no longer living. My stance is that the power of attorney was in effect when she entered into the contract with the pawn shop, so therefore they are required to let me redeem the property. Please advise. This occurred in the State of Washington.

Power of attorney ceases to operate at the death of the principal. You need to probate your friend's estate and get letters of administration.
