Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in West Virginia

Hospital Neglect

I had a Placenta Abruption @ 12:00am was taken to the Hospital at 12:30am, this is a hospital that delivers babies I layed in the ER until Dr. arrived and decided to do a c-section I was in the hospital foe a hour and a half and they did nothing but pass a stethascope back and forth, while I layed there bleeding to death, they didn't even as much take a blood pressure reading, My Baby was born at 2:00am and has alot of problems and we are really lucky to have him, all of this could have been avoided if they had of transfered me or had someone waiting there to take my Baby, he is now 14 months old and severely Retarded among other problems, and my life has totally changed for the rest of our lives, let me know what you think . Thank you!

Re: Hospital Neglect

A placental abruption can represent an obstetrical emergency. Two hours from admission to delivery is inexcusable. If your bleeding was the reason for you being taken to the hospital an assessment should have been made upon admission by fetal monitoring concerning how the baby was doing. If monitoring revealed distress an emergency csec should have been done. Without having further facts and having an opportunity to review the records of your care and that of the baby there is little more I can say.
