Heirship

I am trying to find out any information on how heirship laws work in the state of West Virgina. I have a friend his mother just pasted away and the property went to the eight kids. Was just wanted to know how it works THANKS

In the absence of a will, the answer is statutory. If a decedent died after June 6, 1992 in West Virginia and was survived only by children and not a spouse, the children are the legal heire, subject to action of the personal representative to sell the real estate if necessary to pay debts of the estate.
